March 18, 2020, a spokeswoman for the State Department announced that as of March 18, 2020, the Department of State is temporarily suspending routine visa services at all US embassies and consulates worldwide.
The spokeswoman said that U.S. missions abroad will continue to provide emergency visa services “as resources allow,” and that the services to U.S. citizens will remain available. Besides, the move would not affect the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), which enables most citizens of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.
3月18日,美国国务院发言人表示,从3月18日起,全球各国家的领事馆将暂停常规签证业务。在此期间,面向美国公民的服务将照常开放,同时提供必要的紧急服务。
